Hand Painted Vintage Table

Hand painted in black and grey tones, surrounding the stenciled natural mahogany top, this striking vintage coffee table is protected by a removable glass overlay.  It is looking for its forever home.

With a dramatic stenciled border and a touch of gilding on the glass overlay, this piece makes a statement. The entire ensemble has been hand waxed for protection.  Are you ready to take it home?

Hemp Twine & Baker's Twine

Twine is such a hot accent.  Whether you prefer the traditional look of Baker's twine or the more rustic appearance of Hemp we've got you covered.  You can purchase yardage or spools depending on whether you need a little or a lot!  We have a rainbow of colors--and then some, including variegated selections! You are sure to find just the right match for your creative endeavors.

Twine is a natural and classic alternative to ribbon on gifts. All natural, eco-friendly biodegradable cotton or hemp twine is perfect for embellishing cards, scrapbook pages and general crafting.

Valentine Cards

There is still time to get a few Valentine cards made before the big day!  I've created several examples using our new rubber stamps.  All three come together quickly and are completed with minimal supplies.

First up is an elegant pocket created using the "Whimsical Heart" stamp on lightly textured watercolor paper. The finished size is 3" square, just large enough to hold a small gift.  This pocket would make a charming wedding favor with the happy couple's names stamped inside.

The pre-cut the paper will be here at the store when we open this week for our normal Friday/Saturday hours.

The second example incorporates a bit of watercolor but you could substitute the method of your choice to add color to the hearts.  This card features the "Stitched Heart Trio" and "You make my Heart Sing-script" stamps.   These are stamped on smooth watercolor paper then embossed with black before coloring.  The stamped layer is mounted on colored cardstock.  The finished size is 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" and folds at the top. Coordinating baker's twine adds the finishing touch.

The third sample strays from colors traditionally used for Valentine's Day greetings but not everyone loves pink and red.  The colors also allow this card to be suitable for general spring, to brighten someone's day or all occasion well wishes.  It begins with the "Bumble Bee Trail w/Heart" stamped on bright yellow-green cardstock.  The image is then embossed with black embossing powder. If you want to add the dimensional wings as shown you'll need a second embossed image on vellum; trim and mount with double-stick craft tape. Two layers of grass are created by snipping cardstock along one side and then crumpling the strips.  The base card (yellow green) is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".  The blue-green return on the front is a piece of 6-1/4" x 5-1/2" cardstock that is scored to create a 2" fold.  Mount the larger portion of the blue-green cardstock on the inside of the yellow-green card front and fold the 2" portion to the front so the completed card is a zig-zag.  Finish with a band of black cardstock on the front to hide the lower edge of the grass and a few passes of complementary tri-colored twine.

The stamps and related items can be purchased online at rebeccabaer.com or in-store at Artisan Life & Style™ located in Hagerstown, MD.  Please see the Artisan Life & Style™ website for location and hours.

Artisan Life & Style | Welcome

Please consider this your personal invitation to visit our teaching studio and store.  There is always plenty to see inside but a visit in May or June could bring the opportunity to view our Magnolia trees in full bloom.  The season varies depending upon the weather.  Three Magnolia trees can be viewed  from within the studio & showroom through the large industrial steel windows.  The largest of the three trees fills two of the windows as it grows right along side the building.  This tree is a sight to behold towering three stories high.  You’ll never wonder where to find inspiration for paintings of classic Southern Magnolias.  A visit in early spring may afford the possibility of seeing the neighboring Saucer Magnolia in full bloom.
Of course if you fancy a  Fall visit, your journey will take you through the Appalachian mountains where you can view Autumn in all its splendor as we are nestled in a valley surrounded by the rolling hills of Appalachia.

Whatever your season of choice may be you will find a wonderful array of inspiration, supplies and artisan works when you visit us here at Artisan Life & Style.  Oh, and coffee is always on so enjoy a cup with us while you are here.

The building that houses our studio is a charming, albeit large, structure, which was originally constructed as a dairy.  We are preserving the original walls and floors  along with the wonderfully large steel windows of paned glass.
